Studio Alouette is a musicians’ creative retreat where artists are catered & cared for away from the distractions of everyday life.
Studio Alouette offers modern technology blended with our renowned hospitality and warm welcome.
Our music studio and 8 bed residential centre is set in over 2 hectares of French farmland, in the historic town of Confolens South West of France. An area known for sunflowers and sunshine, its the perfect peaceful rural retreat.
We are Sue and Joe Woolf, an English mum and son team. We bring a broad range of complimentary skills and experience to the business and combine this professional approach with the warm welcome of a family run home.
The Studio has been thoughtfully designed to provide an airy, spacious live room filled with a wide variety of instruments and a well kitted out control room with the latest technology and equipment.
Between us we take the greatest care of you during your stay so that you can fully concentrate on your musical projects. We provide everything that you need from bedding, towels and toiletries to your meals and constant supply of tea, coffee and biscuits!

Sue creates the wonderful meals and provides your comfortable, quiet accommodation. Joe is the resident musician, engineer, producer & technician, performing his magic in the studio.
Together they take care of all your needs and work to make your visit as productive and enjoyable as possible.

In the studio
The purpose built studio boasts a spacious acoustically treated live room and separate control room. Furnished with 28 channel analogue desk, instruments, amps & microphones you have everything you need to make your recordings. We even provide a sunny patio, sofas, kettle, microwave and tea and coffee to keep you comfortable throughout a days recording!

See where it all started
We had a fantastic time at Studio Alouette with Joe and Sue to record our EP. Joe’s expertise, work ethic, and down-to-earth nature meant that we achieved everything that we wanted to, and then some. We are extremely happy with the outcome of what we recorded, and we can’t wait to have the stems mixed and mastered in the future.
Studio Alouette is a beautiful space which inspires creative freedom. We were extremely well looked after and catered for by both Joe and Sue, who made us feel super comfortable for the duration of our stay. We’ll be back!
The entire stay at Studio Alouette was fantastic from start to finish. Not only is the studio well-equipped and comfortable, but Joe was an incredible help throughout the recording process. In terms of his engineering and production knowhow, he is out of this world. It felt as though he was genuinely invested in helping to craft our tracks.
